Alice Máselníková, Stockholm, Sweden
Alice Máselníková (b. 1989, Zlín, Czech Republic) is a visual artist and curator based in Stockholm. She looks at themes such as the body under pressure or compression of both the flesh and spirit, depicting the figure in its fragile state of being and often unaware of the stare. She engages life models, predominantly women, usually in individual sessions that bring an element of accidental intimacy and unexpected conversation turns. She works predominantly in oil paint and watercolour, sometimes accompanied by text.

Alice received her BA (Hons) in Art and Philosophy from Duncan of Jordanstone College of Arts and Design, Dundee, UK; MA in Curating Art from Stockholm University, Sweden; and studied Bellas Artes at Universidad Politécnica de Valencia, Spain.

She is one of the three creative directors of Supermarket – Stockholm Independent Art Fair, founder of the artist-run initiative Flat Octopus, project leader of Artist-Run Network Europe, co-organiser of Performance Art Links Stockholm and co-coordinator of the European network of artist-run spaces AIM Network. When she is not painting, writing or reading she works as freelance curator, editor and cultural funding advisor.
